The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) principles and criteria for sustainable fishing were developed in 1999 as a way to promote sustainable fishing. MSC standards; This applies only to wild-caught fish, regardless of size, species or region. The MSC’s standards for defining environmentally sustainable, well-managed fisheries are based on three key principles: the status of fish stocks, the impact of fisheries on the surrounding ecosystem, and the effectiveness and performance of the fisheries management system. The plan is also supported by the MSC Marine Stewardship Council (CoC) standard to ensure that fish products are properly marketed from sea to plate. This standard provides rules for purchasing, processing and selling certified products.
The MSC Marine Board principles are:
Purchase from a certified supplier
Certified products are detected
Separation of certified products
Volume tracking and recording
The organization has a management system
