ASC – Aquaculture Board of Directors

The Aquaculture Directors Council (ASC) was established in 2010 by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Dutch Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) to provide the world’s leading certification program for the aquaculture industry. It covers a variety of aquaculture processes globally and considers both environmental and social aspects of agriculture to ensure responsible production. A product certified by ASC must also be certified to the Chain of Control (CoC) standard. This standard provides guidelines for purchasing, processing and selling certified OJSC products.

Current OJSC Standards consist of 11 Standards covering 17 species groups. There is a common ASC-MSC standard for abalone, bivalves (mussels, mussels, oysters, clams), freshwater trout, shrimp, tilapia and also seaweed.

ASC standards include the following principles:

What will you benefit from?

As the need for protein-rich food increases, so does the consumption of fish. The results show that eating fish is generally healthier, more affordable and better for the environment than eating meat. Consumers today demand responsible seafood. JSC focuses on environmental and social aspects.
