ABOUT THE ROLE
The Controller will play a vital role in providing high quality financial management services to the family office and all three foundations. As a mission-driven financial partner to these entities, the primary responsibility will be managing the nonprofitsâ financial reporting and GAAP financial statements as well as support for tax preparation and short- and long-term financial planning. This position will use technology, expertise and strong communication skills to proactively execute both day to day transactional responsibilities as well as collaboratively participate in the planning process.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Â
- Monitors the day-to-day financial function and performance for nonprofit entities including responsibility for all aspects of accounting (internal controls, accounts payable, general ledger review, bank reconciliation review and corporate credit cards)
- Ensures policies and procedures are in place that provide for strong internal controls and adherence to GAAP
- Review and support investment accounting and quarterly reporting
- Responsible for monthly allocation computations.
- Adherence to timely and accurate monthly close package review and completion.
- Provides assistance with creating and maintaining annual budget and budget vs. actual reporting
- Prepare tax workpapers and quarterly estimates
- Coordinate annually with the independent auditors on providing supporting documentation as well as preparation of audit report and footnote disclosures
- Review grant reports and financial data
- Provide mentorship and supervision to staff accountant.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
Â
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA or Advanced Degree required
- 5+ years of combined public accounting and private/public company experience, not for profit experience a plus
- Solid understanding and working knowledge of GAAP and financial statements
- Strong management, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work with individuals from all levels of an organization
- Possess well-developed interpersonal and communication, verbal, and written skills
- Adherence to the highest level of integrity and confidentiality
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and accounting software (Sage Intacct, Bill.com preferred)
